About ‘'I'm an Ammonite'’ by Tymn Lintell

I found this tiny time traveler on a Dorset beach - over 100 million years old, likely born in Madagascar's ancient seas before geological forces delivered it to England's Jurassic Coast. Holding it in my palm, I'm always struck by the same thought: this creature was swimming when dinosaurs walked the earth.

The mathematical perfection of that spiral - the Fibonacci sequence made flesh - connects modern cephalopods (squids, octopuses) to this extinct beauty. Those intricate chambers once controlled buoyancy as it hunted Cretaceous seas.
The golden-amber fossilisation reveals iron oxide replacing calcium carbonate over unimaginable time.

What moves me most about Dorset's beaches is this daily gift - you walk among 185 million years of Earth's story. Ammonites, belemnites, ichthyosaurs emerge from eroding cliffs, connecting Madagascar to Devon, ancient tropics to modern coastlines, deep time to your morning beach walk.
