About ‘The X-Factor’ by Sander Poppe

On an enchanting evening on the coast of Zeeland, between Zoutelande and Dishoek, a spectacular spectacle unfolded. The beach was calm as the sun slowly sank towards the horizon. The sky coloured from soft orange to deep purple, and the play of light and shadow made this moment a true work of nature's art.

What makes this evening so special is the harmonious coming together of different elements. The characteristic rows of poles stretched out into the surf, combining with the frothy waves to form a dynamic interplay of lines. In the sky, the clouds outlined themselves in whimsical patterns, and at this precise moment, the lines of the rows of poles and the cloud formations crossed each other. This created an impressive X-shape that inevitably draws the eye to the centre of the composition.

The coastline between Zoutelande and Dishoek is known for its wide beaches, rugged dunes and breathtaking sunsets. Photographing at this time, when the day is closing at its most beautiful and nature is displaying its most intense colours, produces images that exude both tranquillity and strength.

This photo captures not only the beauty of Zeeland's coast, but also that one magical moment when sea, sky, light and lines come together to create a perfect and unforgettable scene.
