White Quince Flower Cluster - a cluster of cream-white quince flowers attached on its branch. The branch covered in flowers and buds is running across this macro image from the bottom left to the upper right. Soft green and cream color blossoms are in the background.
Quince is part of the rose family, flowering quince shrubs (Chaenomeles speciosa). In February, the abundant and enormous double white flowers of O Yashima Flowering Quince are among the first fruit blossoms to bloom.
We grow three different colored quinces. The pink one is the first one blooming in early Spring the other two are the pink and this white quince. The two are also a little more sensitive and will get rust spots in the event of a Spring frost. When I do get a pristine flower it makes them even more special. There must be a maturing stage of the flowers the honeybee prefer as I do not see them on the quince flowers until late March and April.
Their beautiful rose shape blossoms look delicate and romantic. Their pastel colors are pleasant and soothing to the eye. This macro photograph is taken from a 45-degree angle allowing for a top and side view. A lovely addition to the modern contemporary space.
