I took this photo in the Akermheen polder near Nijkerk. This chick of a pheasant was sitting at the top of the dike on which there is also a busy cycle path. When I took this photo, the chick was less than a month old. Mother pheasant was faithfully sitting near this young chick. In the foreground you can see the grass that also grows in the polder Arkemheen and in the background you can still see one of the few bushes of the polder. To take this photo, I used a 55-300 mm telephoto lens and further I chose to render this photo in 16:9.
