The Alpine Renault 1600-S in 1973 is the very first car to be introduced into the prestigious Le Radieux Spa Formula One championship, it won the very first race of the season by beating the United States Ferrari 250 GTO. It was also the first sports car to feature a full air-cooled flat-plane V twin-sealed engine with variable valve timing and carburetorted straight-line bodywork. This sports car is considered a legend and many think that it is the most technologically advanced car that was ever created at that time. Le Radieux was the most successful company in the whole of European Automobile and for many years this company continued to produce Alpine Renault 1600-S on a full-time basis.

Since then the company has made some dramatic technological advances in the Alpine Renault line of cars such as the Grand Prix de France, which is the most prestigious endurance classic car racing event in the world. The Alpine's a firm favorite with sports-car enthusiasts and have a strong following in any country that you visit. Many people believe the Alpine is the most technically advanced sports car that has ever been developed and the company is still hard at work developing new models for future racing events. Many classic car racing teams use Alpine's cars for practice and development.
