About ‘Austerlitz Station’ by Marc-Jan
People waiting for the metro at Gare d'Austerlitz in Paris. The high contrast is made possible by the film, which nevertheless manages to create a beautiful, atmospheric image. It’s as if you’re walking down the stairs yourself and catching one last glimpse of the platform on the other side.

Marc-Jan

I’m a video editor by trade and have been working with moving images for 25 years. As a result, I’m used to how movement on screen and the sequence of shots tell a story.
The beauty of photography is that a single image can convey an entire story or capture a whole atmosphere. That is what I try to capture. Until recently, I did this for myself and my family, but now I have taken the plunge in the hope that I am not the only one who can enjoy these photographs.
