The advantage of a local patch is that, even if time is limited, you can still get out and shoot. And because it is close to home so you can visit the area regularly, you also get to know the photographic possibilities very well.
For me, nature reserve Putberg, near my hometown Voerendaal, is one of those places.
The area is so small that you can walk every path within an hour. But the possibilities for a nature photographer are almost unlimited.
In spring, the flora is an inexhaustible source of inspiration. Wood anemone, slender primrose, foxglove and spotted arum bloom in large numbers near the limestone quarry.
But my favourite subject still remains the ramson, which occurs here in large numbers....
