Berliner Dom is the largest, most imposing and most important church in Berlin.
The history of Berlin's distinctive cathedral on the Spree dates back to 1465 in the late Middle Ages. . It was originally home to St Erasmus Chapel, built as a parish church of the Berliner Stadtschloß. In its current form, Berliner Dom has existed since 1905. It was Kaiser Wilhelm II who decided to have its predecessor demolished and replaced with a much larger and more imposing church. Almost 11 years were needed to complete the construction of the 114-metre-long and 73-metre-wide cathedral
