Blackberry with Pink - Blackberry Branch - a macro into my blackberry tray. One of the advantages of living where I do is all the fruit farms surrounding us. Just 5 minutes from our home we can pick New Jersey's best fruits. Blackberries are in season currently and this batch was freshly handpicked by me just an hour ago. I made sure to pick juicy and ripe blackberries since I would be making the blackberry jam right away. There is no other way you get that rich flavor unless you allow the berries to ripen naturally on their bush. Not only are they delicious they are beautiful. Like little black pearls.
Macro photography allows me to get close and intimate with my subject matter. It shows the beauty easily overlooked due to our busy lifestyles. My artwork gives the viewer a sense of calm, peace, and relaxation. A reprieve from daily stresses.
As a photographer who comes from the days of film, I do minimal post-processing. Much like I did in the traditional darkroom. I want the viewer to feel like they are right there where my photograph was taken. Creating a visual escape.
