Earthly Power, African elephants, Modern Cubism

by Angelique van den Berg

Modern Cubism meets the spirit of the savannah
Inspired by the original painting by Dutch artist Margareth de Vree, which is already part of the collection of photographed paintings, this impressive artwork brings the herd of elephants to life in a completely innovative, structured way.
The composition is built entirely from geometric fragmentation: sharp facets, triangles and clean lines that give the animals and their background a unique dynamism and a fascinating, architectural depth. The carefully composed warm and earthy colour palette immediately catches the eye. Rich, natural shades of terracotta, sage green, ochre yellow, deep burnt orange and warm browns alternate harmoniously.
Subtle accents of sand and a refreshing touch of cool turquoise create a perfect visual balance that radiates both tranquillity and strength.

What makes this digital work truly unique is the fine, tactile texture within the geometric planes. The traces of a palette knife and the subtle impasto effect are reminiscent of traditional oil paint. This gives the artwork an authentic, handcrafted feel and a rich layering that comes into its own beautifully on any material — from canvas to high-end acrylic glass.

A powerful, stylish statement for both modern and sophisticated interiors.
