Intercity Nieuwe Generatie ICNG of the Nederlandse Spoorwegen NS train performing test runs on the Hanzelijn railway track near Kampen. The ICNG (Intercity New Generation), is an electric multiple unit train built by Alstom and is planned to be operated in 2023 by the Nederlandse Spoorwegen.
The ICNG trains are designed to be more energy-efficient, comfortable, and accessible than their predecessors. They will feature a sleek and modern design, with spacious seating areas and plenty of storage space for luggage. The trains will also be equipped with advanced technology, including Wi-Fi, power outlets, and multimedia screens.
The ICNG trains will be able to run at speeds of up to 200 km/h and will be powered by electricity, with the potential to be converted to hydrogen power in the future. The first ICNG trains are expected to enter service on Dutch railways in 2023.
