Kaleidoscope, purple. Line play, related to mandala.
A kaleidoscope is a tube with polygonal mirrors. One end contains beads or other coloured objects. The other end of the tube has an opening that you can see through. Two mirrors are at a slight angle to the longitudinal axis of the tube. The end faces the light for the best effect.
The reflections create a beautiful, symmetrical mandala-like pattern, which you can change by shaking the tube.
The mandala is a Tibetan art form and in Tibetan Buddhism stands for a plan, map or geometric pattern that metaphysically or symbolically represents the cosmos. The concept has a Hindu origin, but is also widely used in Tibetan Buddhism.
Also available in other colours. Many more mandalas in my album 'mandala'.
Tip: choose 3 and compose your own unique triptych!
