Landschaftspark Duisburg-Nord is located on the site the former steelworks Thyssen-Eisenwerk, where until 1985 many tons of iron ore were processed daily and where the blast furnaces ran 24 hours a day, with temperatures of over 2000 degrees. When the plant closed its doors on April 4, 1985, after more than 80 years, they did not want to demolish the huge buildings. Instead, they were given all kinds of new functions, after which a park was created around them. The greenery of nature and the rusty steel of the slowly decaying buildings are a beautiful combination.
