Mdina has a population of little more than 200 people but it used to be Malta's capital city from antiquity to the Middle Ages. It is one of Malta's main tourist attractions. The city's nickname is "the Silent City", as car traffic is very limited (only emergency vehicles and a very small number of private cars are allowed to enter the city).
