Cinque Terre consists of five villages along the Italian coast close to La Spezia in Liguria in Italy. Cinque Terre consists of the following villages: Monterosso al Mare Vernazza Corniglia Manarola Riomaggiore The villages were included in UNESCO's World Heritage List in 1997. The area is difficult to reach by car along the steep coast. There is a footpath connecting the five villages, the section between Riomaggiore and Manarola being known as the Via dell'Amore. The villages are also linked by a railway line that is part of the main La Spezia-Genoa line. There are views of the sea and terraced hills from the footpath. Walled olive and lemon groves can also be found on the hill sides.
