About the artwork

The Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía is Valencia's iconic opera house, located in the heart of the City of Arts and Sciences. Designed by world-renowned architect Santiago Calatrava, this futuristic building is a cultural beacon in eastern Spain. Since its opening in 2005, the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía has become one of the most important opera houses in Spain and Europe.

The opera house seats more than 1,400 visitors and has several halls for opera, ballet, classical music and other performing arts. Thanks to its advanced acoustics and innovative architecture, the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía is a favourite destination for music lovers from home and abroad. Every year, it attracts thousands of visitors to Valencia, who appreciate its combination of culture, gastronomy and Mediterranean charm.

Besides major opera productions, the opera house also offers educational programmes, tours and festivals. Its location in Valencia also makes it perfect to combine with other attractions such as the Oceanogràfic and the Museu de les Ciències.

For anyone planning a cultural trip to Spain, a visit to Valencia's Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía is definitely recommended. The opera house is not only an architectural masterpiece, but also a vibrant centre for music, art and creativity.
