A photo this time not from the Netherlands as an exception, but just across the border, about 7 km, at our southern neighbors in Belgium.
The Mechelse Heide is a nature reserve between As and Mechelen-aan-de-Maas. Located on the eastern edge of the Kempen Plateau, the area is about 700 ha and is part of the Hoge Kempen National Park. In 1967 the area was designated as a nature reserve.
The photo shows a beautiful flock of sheep with shepherd at the foot of a sand dune near a drinking water place. The surroundings are really beautiful and it is quite a large area where you can enjoy hiking. Highly recommended if you are near Geleen, South Limburg in the Netherlands.
