Retro with a Twist
In this series, classical and nostalgic elements collide in playful harmony. Familiar figures from art history – like Venus, Vermeer’s milkmaid, or the Mona Lisa – are reimagined with a wink to the past: retro glasses, cassette tapes, milkshakes, and remote controls appear where you least expect them. Each piece is painted in a style reminiscent of the Old Masters, but with a surprising twist: a vinyl skirt, a fish swimming from behind sunglasses, or Frida holding a cone of fries. Retro with a Twist is a visual tribute to image culture, full of soft colors, rich textures, and subtle humor. Recognition, surprise, and wonder come together in these timeless portraits – each one humming with its own silent soundtrack.
