A few years ago, Michèle and her husband bought a detached house on a new housing estate in North Holland. Michèle: "We fell in love with the space that the house has downstairs." Together they tailored everything to match their own interior design style: industrial with a chic twist. It's a combination of industrial items, warm wood tones, calm colours, and plants. "It's mainly a combination of doing and daring. Nothing is out of place. Each space is unique, but together they form a whole. This style never gets boring!"
"Luckily, my husband and I have the same tastes and we decide everything together. Our favourite spot in the house is the open-plan kitchen. It's a great place for the whole family. There's plenty of space at the breakfast bar to throw a big dinner or quietly read a book while looking out at the garden." Along with the open-plan kitchen, the study is also a great space. "We transformed our garage into a home office. It's become a fantastic workspace!"
On the wall above the sofa, you'll see a piece of artwork that makes you feel relaxed and also creates ambience. Michèle chose to purchase a framed piece of the artwork "December" by Mirjam Duizendstra "It's a piece that you can keep looking at and the frame means you can change it easily too!"
Michèle's tip: "Make a big statement! In the open-plan kitchen we also have a framed piece of art that covers the whole wall. As well as being good for the acoustics, this artwork sets the mood for the space and is really eye-catching!"
