About the artwork

Sometimes it is not the bright colours in the sky that impress the most. It is often precisely the quiet, subdued moments in between. One quiet, beautiful morning I was standing on a pebble path in the floodplains of Oosterbeek (municipality of Renkum). The world around me was silent, as if everything was taking a break. The sky coloured softly, without spectacular patterns. Yet this moment felt special and precious to me.

I stayed at PDC De Herberg for several weeks. To catch my breath and unwind. Here I sort of rediscovered photography again. Of course, I had been doing it for much longer. Even during the difficult period. But here I learned what it costs me and what it gives me. In short, we are trying to get out there again more often.

That morning, I stood behind my tripod, calm and attentive. I chose my frame carefully and waited for the moment when the light fell just right across the floodplain. The sunrise came slowly and without exuberant colours. Yet deep down I felt a personal wow moment .
