Alex Boerema (1963) is photographer at heart. He lives and works in the northernmost region of the Netherlands, on the Groninger Wadden coast or as he himself always calls it: Top of Holland.
In the early eighties he attended the photography course at the Nederlandse Fotovakschool in Apeldoorn. Meanwhile he works as a forensic photographer at the police force in Groningen where he learns the tricks of the trade. Later on he works as a laboratory technician and salesman at one of Groningen's most renowned photo shops.
In 1990 he switched his career to the IT sector and only photographed in his spare time. He applies his knowledge of digital systems directly to his photography. That makes him an early adopter of photo editing software and storage solutions.
In 2012 Alex decided to combine IT and photography and now he runs 'a boerema design', a company for no-nonsense services in the field of photography, design, pre-press, web-design and -implementation and business support.
