About Anneke van der Tempel

Visual artist Anneke van der Tempel, works mainly from her intuition.
Through emotion, musings and the subconscious, images and poems form.

Usually the images can be traced back to a memory. Therefore her work is usually called autobiographical.

Abstraction, line play and primary colors in her paintings and illustrations, betray her Graphic background and fondness for periods such as De Stijl and Bauhaus.

At art school she learned to work in a more process-oriented way. When Anneke applies this in her way of working, she is challenged to leave her comfort zone. And then to discover new themes and try out new techniques.

By means of collage technique she enters the world of Surrealism and Jugendstil. Anneke transforms these collages into illustrations and/or assemblages.

Often these designs are diametrically opposed to her more abstract work, although the graphic influences remain visible. After all, blood is thicker than water.

Anneke also writes and illustrates poems and picture books and works as a graphic designer for various companies and organizations.
