Since early childhood, Betty, born in 1965 in Paderborn, has been fascinated by creating her own worlds out of paper with catalogue and newspaper cuttings.
With the early death of her sister, she escaped her grief and experimented with acrylic and watercolour. She quickly rediscovers her passion for collages. Back then it was TV magazines and catalogues of large department stores' chains, then it was fashion magazines, inspired by her favourite series "Sex and the City". Prada, Gucci, Manolo Blahnik pumps become the main protagonists of her collages.
Like all artists, she is always experimenting with new ideas. Using a variety of mixed media techniques, she creates images with great attention to detail. Each of her fascinating collages are a real feast for the eyes and always reveal something new. Her decollage series once again shows her versatility in working with paper using a variety of techniques and the courage to repeat the old familiar but still reinvent herself. Recently she has combined her second passion, photographing architecture and the people in it while travelling, with her paintings.
"My collages tell stories - everyone who reads them tells a different story". BettyCollagen
