My name is Camiel Mudde and I am 19 years old. I am a third year student at the Nederlandse Fotovakschool in Rotterdam. With my camera I mainly pursue my own interests. I do what I want, and I love this freedom.
As a photographer I want to capture stories and moments with my camera. I focus my camera on social subjects in which I highlight a small story. The people I portray are interesting to me in a certain way, sometimes I can put this into words, but sometimes not. In my photography I focus on individuals and their stories. I think it is important that everyone is special in their own way and that this is also shown. My curiosity drives me towards certain stories and people.
Subjects that are not necessarily very accessible to everyone appeal to me, I like to make some more effort before I can photograph somewhere. Through good contact you can get very far, so you can make extra interesting work and tell stories that not everyone can.
Daily life is a great source of inspiration for me. There are several things that strike me every day that intrigue me, some I write down and remember for later. This can be very silly things like people who buy too big things at the Ikea, but also for example, oliebollen bakers and their whole way of life. I love to spend whole afternoons walking through Rotterdam and just look around. When you do this you start to notice certain little things. The market in Rotterdam is a great place to walk around.
