Every person often has several talents, but sometimes later in life the time comes to actually do something with them. This is how it happened to me. Since childhood I have always had a latent desire to draw and paint. From the age of seven, after my first painting lessons with Paul Citroen, I have periods of very intense activity. This included being apprenticed to a recognized artist to a multi-year course at the liberal arts academy.
My work cannot be captured in a certain style, I have different styles and techniques. I do not strive for a realistic representation of my chosen subject or theme. I try more to create a suggestive image, which in turn appeals to the imagination. An image that gives enough freedom to the viewer to add their own story to it. Often it evokes is association without becoming real.
A path from impressionism through abstract to cubism. Directions or actually the paths I take to fill my canvases.
I do have a preference for a certain direction, namely that of cubism. Repeatedly I attempt to get the forms and structure of cubism on the canvas. But as I progress in filling in the canvas, only a piece of this remains.... and I come back to my own forms with a melting of a limited choice of colors.
A universe with different dimensions of time, space and logic are the typical imagery in my works, which I feel is seamlessly connected to the art of today.
