About Custers Photography

Through my studies for Interieur Designer I came into contact with photography in 2009 and soon bought my first Nikon SLR camera. It started with photographing landscapes; The setting sun and beautiful winter landscapes. After a while old buildings aroused my interest. Entering forbidden territory and the history of buildings, everything I was interested in as a little boy. Where I couldn't appreciate the beauty of decay then, I now capture it through photography. An abandoned farm where the furniture is still there or a closed factory where time has stood still but the environment continues. Crumbling ceilings or the ivy that grows in through every crack. Capturing these forgotten places, sometimes just like a fairy tale. I wanted to do more with this. I wanted to show people what is beyond contemporary, modern architecture. The abandoned and forgotten buildings that no one cared about anymore, sometimes with a lot of risk to enter them". Yoerie Custers
