About Diana Stroobandt

I was born on 5 May 1959 on the outskirts of Antwerp, where, even as a child, I was constantly surrounded by pencils, paint and paper. But it wasn’t until I was in my thirties that I enrolled at art college to study drawing for eight years, followed by six years of painting. Unfortunately, due to a busy professional life, my creative life then came to a bit of a standstill, until I returned to art college four years ago and began painting and drawing again. Since then, I have mainly been working with oil paint, but also occasionally with acrylics, pastels and mixed media. Time and again, I am driven by the same curiosity about light, atmosphere and quiet moments. Following a recent move close to the border with Flemish Brabant, my work has now found a new sense of tranquillity and space, and this is reflected in the pieces I create today.
