Do van Eijs (1959) combines his background as an architect with a passion for painting, which he only discovered after he turned 60. Self-taught, he has rapidly developed a unique artistic voice in which structure, light and space play an important role. His work moves between different worlds: the tranquillity and serenity of still life and the alienating effect and abstraction of industrial complexes. He also takes great pleasure in making replicas, a way to better understand the techniques and emotions of other masters. Each painting he creates is a reflection of his fascination with both the everyday and the universal, in which he invites the viewer to a moment of contemplation and wonder.
