Creativity has been the common thread running through Monique’s life from an early age. From drawing and painting to jewellery making; creation is in her DNA. Following a conscious quest for peace and renewed energy, she found the ultimate connection between her love of nature and her creative drive in photography.
Her work is distinguished by a pure, authentic approach. After completing her professional training, she developed a number of styles in which feeling is the most important yardstick. Her camera acts as an extension of her emotion. Using techniques such as ICM (Intentional Camera Movement) and double exposure, she captures the world as she experiences it at that moment: sometimes subdued and sombre, at other times exuberant and colourful.
Although her images may sometimes appear abstract, they are all ‘real’. No AI is involved and post-processing is kept to a minimum. What the viewer sees is reality through her eyes: an interplay of atmosphere, detail and movement. Her portfolio is as versatile as life itself, yet is always united by a keen eye for composition and a strong decorative character.
