About me
My name is Eric and I create digital art inspired by emotion, wonder and personal experiences.
Creativity took on a special meaning for me after I suffered a stroke at a young age. It was only after that that drawing really became a part of my life. What began as something to keep me occupied grew into a way of giving visual form to feelings, thoughts and experiences that are sometimes difficult to put into words.
My work is usually created digitally in Procreate. Sometimes I start with a clear idea, but just as often with nothing more than a colour, a shape or a feeling. As I draw, the work develops naturally. I love abstract forms, symbolism, visible brushstrokes and textures that give digital work an almost painterly quality.
Much of my inspiration comes from life itself. From growth and change, from what goes on in your mind, but also from music, travel, the world around me and things that simply spark my curiosity.
I deliberately don’t always assign a single, fixed meaning to my art. What I see in a piece doesn’t have to be the same as what you discover in it. In fact, I love it when someone looks at my work and finds their own feeling or story within it.
As well as my art, I write on Brainstrong.nl about my experiences with acquired brain injury (ABI), personal growth and the things that are on my mind.
I see it as a special next step that my work can now find its way onto other people’s walls.
