About Erna van Lith
I am Erna van Lith, born in Berlicum in 1961.
Drawing faces has fascinated me since my early childhood. I studied art history and after that I followed classes and workshops as a maker, among others with Cesar Santos, Gregory Mortenson, Svetlana Scholtmeijer, Siegfried Woldhek and Henk Groenendaal.
I make portraits in oil, charcoal, pencil and ink.
And although the confidence that comes from technique, skill and practice certainly helps, making a portrait remains for me primarily a matter of feeling. The best portraits are often created by reacting purely to what you see and feel.
