Femke den Hollander (b 1979, Bruges) lives and works in Bruges. She studied social and cultural work and later photography at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bruges.
She worked for 20 years as a social worker, mainly with young people. As a freelance photographer, she works for numerous social and cultural organisations in Bruges and beyond. She is house photographer at cultural hub De Republiek and for Musea Brugge she follows the construction of the new art gallery BRUSK, among other things.
She also works on her own projects and art collections, focusing mainly on the beauty of nature in recent years.
Femke: 'You can read my sculptures as a tribute to nature. Its beauty will always be there. And we humans will always have romantic feelings and an almost inexpressible admiration for the wonders of nature. My images are an ode to poetry woven into the fabric of nature, they show that the deepest beauty often lies in what remains unspoken, unseen and hidden. As long as there is nature, there is hope. And comfort."
