About Gerard van den Akker
Wide landscapes and colorful details: that's my work. Everywhere I come I see a world full of color, something I also try to show with my pictures. I am a native from Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and I work and live on the edge of this beautiful city. After I studied astronomy and did a master to become an editor in the Dutch publishing industry, I finally ended up working as a software engineer. Besides photography I also love writing, and since 2009 I am a judge for the Dutch writing competition Fantastels.
