54 artworks from Helmut Böhm.
Helmut is an artist with a broad interest, which is reflected in the various subjects in his work as well as in the graphic techniques he uses. After a productive period as a painter, he started lithography more than fifteen years ago.
"What attracted me was that you can make a series of prints of a work. In a painting there is often months of work and there is only one, unique original".
Helmut's work is influenced by the 'magic realism' of painters like Rene Magritte and Pyke Koch. A realistic style with a wink:
"I like to incorporate a joke into my compositions, something that doesn't make sense and creates tension".
He draws inspiration from everyday life and his work often contains ordinary objects such as flowers, animals and everyday objects. The uniqueness of his images is the use of bright and fresh colours, technical symbols and a perspective that sometimes appears a bit strange. Helmut has exhibited in, among other places, Galerie & Kunstuitleen Meander in Arnhem, the Watertoren in Raamsdonksveer and Abdij Mariënkroon in Nieuwkuijk. His studio can be visited during the annual art route of Drunen.
