Unique technique & combinations
MFG Art's collages are unique because of the technique and form that Reiziger uses: "I get most of my material from newspapers. If I see a nice image, I grab my ruler and tear out parts. Then it's on my work table and I see beautiful new images in it. It is unique because no one else can make that same combination of images. No one takes the exact same newspapers and tears out the same parts of images from them. Only when the collage is glued, do I start working with chalk and pen. I highlight images by connecting them." She is guided by current affairs and events around her. Every day, she collects materials to use in her collages.
The fact that Traveller works with magazines and especially newspapers as basic materials also brings with it a certain risk: "There is a special oil in the texture of newsprint, if you don't put it behind glass, the colour will fade. So she photographs/scans the collages and they are printed on dibond (print on aluminium), or on recycled cardboard. This ensures that it is preserved." It is then also possible to print at larger sizes and enlarge the collage.
