Maud is an interdisciplinary artist. Her forms of expression are diverse, often sharing a common core: making visible or audible what would otherwise remain unseen. A hand closing around another. An inward gaze. A silence between two people. Moments that are easy to miss, unless someone freezes them in time for you.
The power of her paintings lies in their intimate depiction. She draws you in by zooming in on a fleeting moment and freezing it in time. Her palette shifts between day and night: ochres and browns for the warmth of skin, wood and coffee; deep blues for the sea and the night sky. She depicts everyday moments so that they do not go unnoticed.
In the hustle and bustle of daily life, we sometimes forget: life unfolds not in the big moments, but in the small ones.
