Destination reached: My Creative Self.
I love to travel and enjoy getting gifts, but I had not booked this trip and had not ordered this gift. But I was given them in my lap, just out of the blue, only to do something with them.
This trip was called breast cancer. Geez...it sounds crazy, but this was a gift for life. The journey brought me back to my destination; My Creative Self, which has always been hiding inside me and now wants to come out. I experienced how beautiful and healing creativity can be and my creative source started bubbling and became more and more...I couldn't ignore it anymore; I wanted to do something with this.
And voilà; my work on the wall! With my work, I want to inspire people, touch them, give them strength and support, but also give them joy, pleasure and love.
I work intuitively and often use different materials interchangeably. I find it an art to draw on from nothing, a wrong line, a spot, a shape, to let myself be surprised which journey I take in this and where I end up.
I love maps and landscapes; going on a journey; this is therefore frequently reflected in my illustrations. This, combined with sometimes a touch of spirituality, is always a feast for me, where I don't shy away from dirty hands and clothes ;-)
And did you know that my (korean) name "Sang Myung" means something like "always sparkling/enlightening"...so the splashes of gold I like to use don't come completely out of the blue :-)
