I was born in England but have lived for the past 27 years in Düsseldorf. I'm a painter and work from home. My studio is in my flat. I often mix media, sometimes directly on the canvas. Colours, nature and the actual act of painting itself inspire me. Normally I have no plan when I begin except maybe for 2 or 3 colours I'd like to use. The paintings often develop out of the act of painting. They grow. Some paintings have several layers and, especially with oils, the paint is scraped off and reapplied resulting often in thick impasto effects combined with thin layers creating depth. Although the paintings are abstract a lot of them are inspired by nature.
