I am Vivien Nieuwenweg born 1981, graduated from the Academy Minerva in Groningen in 2013 as Autonomous Visual Artist. Art for me is a way of life this is what I do as a human being. The work process starts with photographing, sketching, painting, collecting and feeling. I want to show what I see; a piece of magic or amazement captured, analysed or/and to be endlessly relived. This process is therefore never finished at once. What is visible is the many layers of photo cuttings, sifted paper, old jewellery, things, paintings, embroidery stitches and drawings that are mixed up and over each other. In my eyes it is a struggle between perfection and imperfection, like our own existence.
