I have always wanted to photograph my German violin.
It wasn't really easy: the instrument is suspended with two nylon wires from a tripod with an upper beam. With a black cloth, one studio flash and a reflector, I just barely made it. To illuminate the beautifully engraved lion's head, I used another ''snoot'', a flash that allows the light to shine like a spotlight on a particular spot.
In the end, I arrived at this true-to-life result where the weathered wood and varnish are clearly visible.
