SAIL Amsterdam with the entry of the Clipper city of Amsterdam. This ship is always the first to sail into the IJ harbour during SAIL-in as it is called. Accompanied by dozens of people on the quays but also accompanied by dozens of boats on the water.
This year was SAIL-in for the 10th time, first held 50 years ago. It coincided with the celebration 750 years of the city of Amsterdam.
There were over 2 million visitors over 5 days of SAIL. People could visit dozens of Tall Ships, which includes the Clipper city of Amsterdam, as well as visit and view thousands of other boats. The Tall ships, besides the Navy ships, were the crowd pullers, though.
As a photographer, I regularly get to take pictures's at events. Not all events are worth hanging on the wall as a work. SAIL, with its unique boats and ships, most certainly has that.
