A Christmas tree that dances in colour by But First Framing

Vibrant blue and dark green strokes form a Christmas tree that fills almost the entire picture. Bright red baubles with small white accents hang amongst the branches. A large, cream-coloured star crowns the top. The soft pink background provides ample space for the bold colours and the playful shape of the tree.

Broad bands of colour criss-cross and extend outwards on all sides. The visible, thick paint texture makes the branches almost tangible. Small splashes and long streaks of paint enhance the sense of movement. At the bottom, blue, green and red lines extend beyond the trunk. The round Christmas baubles bring a cheerful rhythm amidst the bold, diagonal strokes.

The work radiates festive joy and spontaneity. The familiar Christmas tree takes on a character of its own thanks to the striking blue and the free-flowing forms. The soft pink brings warmth and tranquillity, whilst the red decorations immediately catch the eye. The result is a Christmas scene that feels both familiar and surprising.

What makes this piece special is the combination of simple decorations and exuberant movement. The tree almost seems to be dancing, with the delicate star serving as a calm focal point at the top. This colourful work evokes the cosy anticipation of the festive season and brings a playful Christmas atmosphere into the home.
