In "A Starry Night in Cubism" I tried to bridge the gap between modern art movements and the timeless genius of Vincent van Gogh's "Starry Night". The swirling patterns of the sky are a direct nod to Van Gogh's masterpiece, where I wanted to bring together classical painting and contemporary expression.
The colourful palette I chose ranges from the deep blue hues of the sky to the vibrant oranges, reds and greens of the city buildings. The cubist fragments in the sky were inspired by the dynamic brushstrokes used by Van Gogh. The reflections on the wet paving stones give depth to the scene and draw the viewer in.
With the multi-coloured facades of the buildings, which light up from within, I wanted to convey a sense of warmth and community. This contrasts with the cool, turning sky above, as a reminder of the eternal dance of man and nature.
With this artwork, I wanted to show how different artistic traditions can come together in one harmonious whole. For me, it is not just a painting; it is a personal experience, a journey through time and expression.
