A golden evening in Prague

by Xander Broekhuizen

As the sun slowly disappears behind Prague’s historic buildings, the city is transformed into a stunning backdrop of warm golden hues and long shadows. This photograph captures that special moment, where everyday city life and the tranquillity of the setting sun come together. Amidst the impressive façades and distinctive architecture, traffic winds its way through the streets. On the left, a striking contrast is visible between the modern, undulating architecture of the Dancing House and the classical buildings that dominate the streetscape. The last rays of the sun fall precisely between the buildings, colouring the sky in soft shades of orange and gold.

What makes this place so special is the combination of movement and stillness. Cars, passers-by and the hustle and bustle of city life carry on as usual, whilst the warm evening light lends the surroundings an almost cinematic quality. The reflection of the sunlight along the street and the dark silhouettes of the buildings heighten that contrast.

An everyday moment in an extraordinary city, captured during the golden hour. A reminder of Prague’s charm, just as the day slowly gives way to evening.
