Long-eared owls are beautiful owls and in autumn they gather to roost. Roosting actually means resting with several owls in a single tree. Like this long-eared owl, they also do this in the middle of residential areas and throughout the winter. Here they are safer from larger birds of prey in autumn and winter. When the leaves fall off, they move into the conifers and coniferous trees.
