About ‘A new beginning’ by Gerard Wielenga

A deserted beach, shrouded in a thick layer of fog. A lone man can be seen in the distance, looking out over the beach. He seems to have just arrived on this coast that is unfamiliar to him. Behind him, on the tide line, a small, abandoned boat lies lonely in the sand. The sea is calm and the waves break gently on the beach. The atmosphere in the picture is somewhat mysterious and melancholic. The thick fog creates a sense of isolation and desolation, while the lonely man and abandoned boat suggest that something unusual has happened on this otherwise quiet beach. Perhaps the man has just finished a long journey, and is looking for answers or a new beginning. The calm sea and quiet beach seem to contrast with the unknown future that lies before the man. The picture seems to suggest that he has come to the right place because of the dark clouds over the sea that he is now leaving behind.

I started photographing when it was still a craft that gave you brown fingers as if you were a chain smoker and I did that smoking too. Meanwhile I don't smoke anymore and also from your keyboard you don't get brown fingers anymore, but I still do photography with a lot of pleasure. And if someone else can enjoy my work then that is of course completely beautiful.

What are the delivery times?

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
