A romantic sunset on the Baltic Sea island of Rügen by Silva Wischeropp

I captured this breathtaking, maritime and relaxing landscape shot on 2 August 2013 in the late summer evening, just as the enchanting, romantic sunset was setting over the Baltic Sea beach on the island of Rügen.
The photograph was taken with a NIKON D90 camera (lens: NIKKOR 80.0-200.0 mm f/2.8).

The west and north-west coasts of the island are ideal for capturing the perfect photograph of groynes at sunset on Rügen, as this is where the sun sinks directly into the sea or behind the silhouette of Hiddensee.
The long line of seagulls on the groyne lends the natural scene a dynamic composition and captivates with its magical, unique atmosphere.

The final glow of the fireball in the summer evening sky creates a warm and hopeful mood. The sun’s last rays skim the sea’s surface, casting a shimmer upon the water. This creates an enchanting, unique and energising atmosphere.
The sea water lapped gently, its surface glistening with the reflection of the last rays of the sun. The sky, ablaze with fiery red and orange clouds, looked like something out of a fairy tale and captivated the observer.
The image has a meditative, energising effect.
