A rosy evening tranquillity at the sailing harbour

by Patrick Wittling

Delicate shades of pink sweep across the sky, bathing the sailing harbour in a soft evening light. In the foreground, golden-brown grasses with feather-like inflorescences rise up. Their sweeping stalks criss-cross the scene, forming a natural frame for the many white boats in the background. Their slender masts trace fine, vertical lines against the soft clouds.

The interplay of the different textures is particularly charming: the delicate grasses, the tightly packed boats and the small ripples on the water. Between the moorings, calm stretches of water open up, reflecting the warm colours of the sky. Individual posts and the horizontal jetties lend the scene stability and depth.

The image evokes a stroll by the water’s edge as the day slowly draws to a close and one’s thoughts settle. It combines the sense of security of a sheltered harbour with a longing for open horizons and new paths.

In an interior setting, the photograph creates a warm, relaxed atmosphere. Shades of pink, sandy tones and muted blues harmonise with light-coloured walls, natural fabrics and wood. For those who love the sea, it brings a touch of that maritime evening atmosphere into everyday life.
