I took this picture in the nature reserve Het Leesten near Ugchelen near Apeldoorn in the Veluwe. It is not the biggest heathland but it is a nice one to take pictures of, you see this kind of heathland more often on the Veluwe. I took this picture from a vantage point on top of a moraine. As you can see the heather was already purple and the sky was clear blue, it is a real summer photo. You can tell from the little tree in the foreground that it is a dry summer. The trees you see are mainly Scots pines. For this photo I used a polarizing filter to make the colors stand out more and had my camera on a tripod.
