This fire truck of the type ZIL-131 (Design by Zavod imeni Likhachova) was left behind after services had been rendered. The cabin had room for one driver and two passengers. The ZIL-131 had six wheels which were all driven (6x6) and was equipped with a ZIL-131K, V-cylinder petrol engine of 6.9 liters. What can be said with certainty is that the fire engine was used after the disaster, because of the high dose of radiation that the vehicle still contains. In my book you will find an older photograph when it was in better condition. Presumably it was dismantled for spare parts.
